About Us
Born in 1951, Ras Deborah Johnson was a vibrant, creative force—a true rebel at heart. She mastered a wide array of crafts, including sewing, jewelry making, tie-dyeing, collaging, embroidery, and anything else that sparked her imagination. A passionate collector of the National Geographic magazine, Deborah's fascination with the world’s diverse cultures deeply influenced her work, particularly her love for African art, which often found its way into her designs.
A strong advocate for 100% cottons, natural fabrics, and handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces, Deborah believed in the power of sustainable, authentic craftsmanship. She dedicated over 50 years to her craft before passing in December 2024, leaving behind a legacy of creativity and artistry. Deborah shared all her knowledge with her daughter, Ihesha Aina, who now continues her mother’s vision, handcrafting jewelry and designing clothing that reflects Deborah’s unique style.
Each piece you purchase carries the energy of Ras Deborah, supporting not only the legacy of her craft but also contributing to services for transitional-aged foster youth.
